Claim for FREE Solid Wall Insulation

Free Wall Insulation Grant

Solid wall can be made of concrete, stone, wattle and daub, or brick.

If it is made of bricks, you are able to determine whether a property is of cavity wall or solid wall by their arrangement. If you have cavity walls you will notice the bricks are usually laid in an even pattern lengthways and are all of similar length.

Whereas, if you have solid walls, the bricks will have alternating patterns and the sizes of the bricks are likely to be different lengths - long side mixed with the short one.

There are two types of insulation that are suitable for a solid wall.

Solid wall insulation can either be performed inside or outside the walls of your home, whichever may suit you best. FREE Government grants are available for both external insulation and internal insulation.

According to the Energy Saving Trust an external wall insulation of a semi-detached house can cost anything around £13,000 where as a for internal wall insulation it can cost anything around £7,400.

Note: In many cases, with FREE solid wall insulation grant, you can also claim a FREE new boiler - find out more here.

Internal Wall Insulation

Internal Wall Insulation

Internal wall insulation is carried out inside your home, this is the process of fitting in robust and firm insulation boards to your walls, or building an internal wooden frame wall, that is then filled with mineral fibre wood or similar material.

Here, at Free Insulation Grant, one of our local installers will be able to advice you what is the best suited method for your home.

For those who are looking to redecorate or renovate rooms around the house, internal wall insulation will be the best fit.

The chart below shows statistics from the Energy Saving Trust (2018) on average annual savings according to your house type.

Detached house £415
Semi-detached house £245
Mid-terraced house £155
Bungalow £165
Flat £115

External Wall Insulation

External Wall Insulation

External wall insulation is a solution for homes which were mostly built before 1920s. Along with helping to insulate your home, external wall insulation also helps to add a waterproof coating that acts like an extra protection. It also enhances the property’s external appearance and increases it’s value, so when or if you decide to sell or rent your home it makes things a lot more attractive.

Alongside with drastic reduction of heat loss, external wall insulation can also help with minimising draughts.

The process involves filling in the gaps and cracks, and adding a layer of insulation to the wall externally. It can then be completed by smoothing, texturising, painting, or decorating it in any other fashion.

Before any work is carried out, it is important to establish whether it is internal or external wall insulation that is best suited for your home, or may be both. Our qualified and authorised insulation fitter can help you to establish the best options upon surveying your property for FREE.

External wall insulation can take up to two weeks to complete.
