Free Insulation Grants for landlords and tenants

From the 1st October 2018 landlords and their tenants are not eligible for free boiler grants any longer.

However, those properties that are heated with electricity, can now receive FREE insulation grant instead. The government acknowledged that there is a large stock of tenanted properties that are energy-inefficient due to poor insulation level. That is why some funds were alloclated towards improving their improvement.

Here is the list of requirements for properties to qualify for a FREE Insulation Grant:

  • Heated with electric heating only
  • EPC rating is E or below
  • Occupied by a tenant in receipt of qualifying benefits

In order to qualify for the UK government free insulation grant 2022, only those tenants in receipt of certain benefits will fit the criteria to claim free insulation grants.

  • Internal (for solid wall properties)
  • Loft insulation
  • Room in Roof insulation
  • Underfloor insulation
  • Flat roof insulation
